Rathbornes 1488 began on Winetavern Street in Dublin, founded by Joseph Rathborne in 1488 — making it the world's oldest candle company, with over five centuries of unbroken craftsmanship. From the 1630s, Rathbornes supplied Dublin with candlelight for its streets and lighthouses, creating a safer city for its residents and visiting merchants. Today that same heritage informs every candle hand-poured in their Dublin workshop.

Each candle is meticulously hand-poured in small batches in Dublin, using 100% natural and sustainable waxes with the highest quality fragrances. The fragrances are inspired by the Irish landscape — wild rose, honeysuckle, sea air — reflecting the soul of the land itself. The collection spans elegant single-wick candles, statement 3-wick and 4-wick candles, reed diffusers, diffuser refills, bath and body gift sets, and liquid soaps — each one a small piece of Irish history made for modern living.
