Originally founded in 1874 by Jean-Baptiste Moutet, Moutet has been weaving cotton and linen kitchen textiles since 1919 in Orthez, a town nestled in the South West of France. The company today is still family-owned and run by Catherine Moutet, a descendent of Jean-Baptiste. Today Moutet weaves for the finest hotels and starred restaurants and chefs in the world. The company was awarded the Atelier d’Art de France (French professional fine craft federation) and Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) which indicate and commend the quality work of Moutet for five generations. In addition to its own designs, Moutet collaborates with other French brands and designers in creating mini collections and is determined to keep the exceptional know-how in Orthez, France. All Moutet products are designed and woven in France by highly trained local craftsmen. The linens are made of 100% extra-long staple jacquard/damask cotton. Moutet linens make a great hostess or housewarming gift: Wrap a bottle of wine, a book, or a candle with these beautiful tea towels. Machine washable. Line dry preferable. Natural Marseille soap recommended. Avoid fabric softeners (they reduce the absorbency of textiles. Note: textiles may shrink naturally by 5-10%.
