Marimekko’s famous poppy pattern Unikko was born in 1964 in a time when the design house’s collections featured mostly abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting from this organic theme and designed an entire range of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.
This set includes two Oiva mugs that are made of white stoneware. The mugs feature different colored Juhla Unikko patterns with golden metal pigment details. Because of the metal details, we recommend washing these products by hand. The set is packed in the Marimekko Logo pattern box.
Unikko (poppy), symbolizing creativity, was born in a time when hardly any floral designs were included in Marimekko’s collections. Maija Isola, however, was fascinated by the theme of flowers and decided to create an entire range of novel floral prints.

Unikko is one of Marimekko’s best-known patterns, and it adorns a variety of objects from fabrics and bed linen to Sami Ruotsalainen’s clean-lined Oiva tableware collection.
