This dinnerware project designed by CtrlZak reflects on the historical production of Chinese and European Bone China and its centuries of fertilization between Western and Eastern aesthetics. Produced in Tangshan, the renowned “capital of Bone China”, refined by hand, the pieces decorations are sliced in half, creating new hybrids that juxtapose scenes and themes interrelated in the respective cultural imaginary. Bone china is a type of porcelain that is composed of bone ash, feldspathic material and kaolin. Developed by English potter Thomas Frye at the end of the XVIII century, Bone China is known for its high level of whiteness and translucency, and very high mechanical strength and chip resistance. Contemporary forms symbolize a complex past. Imported from France
